Beginner Sewing Class – Bow Boxer Shorts by Matchy Matchy Sewing Club - SATURDAY JULY 26th, 9am-5pm AT CW CO-WORK

Join us for the day and learn to sew a simple pair of shorts in this fun and informative beginner sewing class!

We will be using Matchy Matchy Sewing Club's pattern - Bow Boxer Shorts. Everything you need will be provided including your choice of cotton or linen fabric from Merchant and Mills, use of one of our studio sewing machines, tools and a printed pattern with a pdf version emailed to you for future use. We will email you with fabric options after sign up. 

During the class we will go through the steps of using a pattern, including taking measurements and selecting your size. Cutting the pattern pieces, best practices for cutting your fabric, and constructing the garment by following the pattern step by step. 

This is a beginner class however a basic understanding of how to set up and use a sewing machine is a prerequisite. If you have no experience we suggest you take our introductory class - Machine Foundations + Zipper Pouch

Level: Beginner

Skills you will learn:

• How to take your measurements and select your size by reading the size chart on the pattern
• Cutting the pattern pieces out of the chosen fabric
• Sewing techniques including: sewing around curves, top stitching, finishing seams with a serger, inserting an elastic waist band, hemming and making bows
• Cutting and pinning techniques

What’s included:

• 8 hours of instruction and class time
• Materials and use of notions/ tools 
• Refreshments and snacks (this class runs over lunch, feel free to bring something to eat)

Materials: all materials are included in the class fee (fabric, use of sewing machine, sewing needle, thread, ruler, scissors, rotary cutter and pattern)

This workshop will run out of CW Co-Work space located on Wellington County Road 7, just outside of the downtown. There is ample on-site parking.

Cancellation policy: All workshops are non-refundable, please ensure that you are able to make all scheduled dates prior to signing up. Studio Kampina will not be able to issue refunds on workshops, however if we are notified up to 48 hours before the start time of the workshop, we can offer store credit. Cancellations made within 48 hours will forfeit their entire fee.
